Lamb Burgers with Yogurt Mint Sauce

Serves: 4

We make these delicious lamb burgers in the exact same method we would for hamburgers. The yogurt mint sauce is tangy and bright – the perfect compliment to the lamb.

Burger Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground lamb

  • Salt and pepper

  • Burger buns or English muffins

Sauce Ingredients

  • ½ cup loosely packed fresh mint leaves

  • ½ cup whole milk yogurt

  • ¼ mayonnaise

  • ½ teaspoon anchovy paste (or Worcestershire sauce)

  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped

  • Salt and pepper

Suggested Burger Toppings

  • 1 large tomato

  • 1 cucumber

  • 1 bunch watercress or arugula

  • 1 small red onion

Directions

Gently form the ground lamb into 4 patties with your hands trying not to work the meat too much. Generously salt and pepper each patty.

Using a food processor or blender, combine the mint, mayonnaise, yogurt, garlic, Worcestershire sauce (or anchovy paste), salt and pepper and pulse to blend into a sauce. Transfer into a small bowl.

Grill the patties to preference and let cool for 1-2 minutes.

Slice your buns and spread one-tablespoon sauce on bottom bun, layer with chopped cucumbers, the meat patty, a tablespoon of sauce, and slices of red onion, tomato and sprigs of watercress. Top with the top of the bun, and serve.
