Friday Farm Stand Opens
Dear Community,
It was a busy winter at Philo Ridge Farm, where our team has been working to keep the farm flourishing. From tending to crops and planting gardens to caring for our animals and making several infrastructure improvements, we are keeping our working lands working. We had a successful lambing season, welcoming 80 new sheep to our flock and with the warmer spring days, we’ve just begun our calving season and our Belted Galloway herd has been moved out to pasture.
As part of our ongoing evolution, we spent some time at the beginning of the year listening to valuable feedback from our farmers, vendors, and community members. Many of you expressed that you missed our grass-fed, pasture-raised meat, and we are excited to share that we are beginning a weekly Friday Farm Stand:
Opening on Friday, May 24th, the Farm Stand will offer a bounty of farm-grown pork, beef, lamb, stocks, seasonal vegetables, fresh-cut flowers, and a selection of fibers.
The Farm Stand will open to the public on Fridays from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the barn to the right of the Farm Commons Barn. Parking is available on both sides of the barn.
The Farm Stand will only accept credit card payments and we will provide regular updates on our social media channels.
As many of you know, we paused our food service operations in December to focus on restructuring as a nonprofit organization. This is a multi-step, multi-year process in which we are making strides. Our 501(c)(3) application is underway and we are checking all of the necessary regulatory boxes to ensure Philo Ridge’s long-standing future as a working regenerative farm and agricultural resource.
While our goal is to welcome the public back to the farm in a greater capacity in the future, the Farm Commons Barn, Market, and trails will remain closed to the public through 2024. Creating and sharing good food has always been a part of who we are and will be a part of our future. We look forward to sharing more about how the community can engage with Philo Ridge Farm as the year progresses.
As always, we are sincerely grateful for the continued support and patience from our community. We hope to see you at the Farm Stand this summer!
Your neighbors,
Peter, Diana, and the Philo Ridge Team
